Built on the site of the old St. George Hotel, the McCurdy Hotel has figured prominently in Evansville's history. The luxurious facility opened its doors on June 17, 1917, and over the decades was patronized by presidents, film stars, and other celebrities. Vacant for several years, the McCurdy has undergone a major renovation, instilling new life into the century-old hotel.
Speaker Dennis Au recently retired as the City of Evansville's Historic Preservation Officer. He will discuss the long, rich history of this iconic building.
The program is sponsored by the Southwestern Indiana Historical Society; it is free and open to the public.
To ensure sufficient seating, reservations are requested.
