Dr. Kristalyn Shefveland, University of Southern Indiana Associate Professor of History will present "Oral History and Memory: Evansville Restaurant History Project."
Nestled in a horseshoe bend along the Ohio River, Evansville Indiana finds itself in the border territory of the MidSouth and Midwest. Evansville, Indiana, has a unique culinary heritage showcased in a wide variety of restaurants, many of which have closed but just as many that have kept their historic traditions in place as they continue to operate today. The current restaurant scene in Evansville hearkens back to Evansville's past while embracing the foodie movements of the present and innovating for the future. By examining restaurants, past and present, in images, interviews, and recipes, this work will highlight the rich history of Evansville's Classic Restaurants through Taverns, Pizzerias, Brewpubs, Diners, and more!
